What do i need to know about a B.R.A.I.N.S. Technique session?

The B.R.A.I.N.S. Technique combines neuroscience, body-based regulation, and just enough conversation to name what’s going on—then lets your nervous system do the real work. In minutes, clients go from anxious and overwhelmed to calm, grounded, and clear.
No special equipment needed – All you need is your body (and if you need support, someone can gently tap for you).

What is the B.R.A.I.N.S. Technique?
It is an acronym that stands for Bilateral Resolution for the Acute Interrupted Nervous System. We apply this technique when stress suddenly disrupts our nervous system, causing a flight, fight, or freeze reaction, to come back into a calm, adaptable, and clear mindset that can inspire solutions.
How does it work?
When our nervous system is dysregulated that’s when we go into survival mode like fight, flight, freeze. That’s also when we’re in our Inner Critic and Inner Child. When we’re in that state, we can only access a small portion of our brain. On SPECT brain scans, after we do bilateral tapping, we can see an increase of blood flow in the brain. With increased blood flow, we now have more access to a larger area of the brain. This means, we’re back to a regulated nervous system, and that’s when our Adult-self can step forward. There are many benefits to being in this state, including but not limited to, increased immunity, resiliency, and perspective.
Is this therapy?
No, this isn't therapy. It's a supportive coaching session that uses a specific technique to give your nervous system relief. It can be a one-time session or you can schedule more sessions whenever you feel the need.
Do I need any special equipment?
No. All you need is to be able to tap your body. If you are unable to tap your body you can have another person, like a caregiver or friend, tap your body in your place.
Can I use this on past trauma?
No. The B.R.A.I.N.S. Technique is designed to be used on acute, immediate triggers that are up to four months old. If there was a trauma that happened long ago, but you were recently re-triggered, we can use the technique on the recent trigger to bring immediate relief and resolution to the present situation.
Can I do the BRAINS technique on my own?
Yes, this is a tool that once learned, you will be able to use in your own life whenever you're feeling intense emotions. That being said, you're welcome to schedule more sessions with me as you gain more experience with the technique.
